Citrix Systems is offering the latest technology in cloud computing by pioneering the concept of personal clouds. The US software company argues that today's employees want to be able to work from anywhere on any device, but this poses many challenges for IT departments which are used to assigning each employee with a static desktop PC.

Citrix is offering a new portfolio of products that will allow IT departments to shift from the traditional desktop computing model to this new concept of personal clouds that move around with the user. The products build on the firm's existing Citrix Receiver universal client software, and allow different devices to connect to corporate networks and access a variety of applications, including Windows programs and web-based software (SaaS). Citrix has also acquired Kavisa, which is a small company that makes low-cost virtualization technology aimed at the small business market.
